United Kingdom

The United Kingdom is an island country located on the northwest coast of mainland Europe. The United Kingdom has made a significant contribution to the world economy, especially in the area of technology and industry. However, since World War II, the United Kingdom's most prominent exports have been cultural, including literature, theatre, film, television, and music popular in all parts of the country.

Perhaps Britain's biggest export has been the English language, which is now spoken in every corner of the world as one of the major international mediums of cultural and economic exchange.

The United Kingdom maintains relations with parts of its former empire through the Commonwealth. It also gets benefits from historical and cultural ties with the United States and it is also a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). In addition, the United Kingdom became a member of the European Union in 1973.
