Alberta Tourism and Hospitality Stream (AAIP)

The Alberta Tourism and Hospitality Stream is an employer-driven immigration pathway under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). It provides eligible foreign workers already employed in Alberta’s tourism and hospitality sector with an opportunity to obtain a provincial nomination for Canadian Permanent Residence. The stream was introduced to address ongoing labour shortages by helping Alberta employers retain experienced workers in key hospitality occupations. Successful nominees can apply for Canadian Permanent Residence through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

What is the Alberta Tourism and Hospitality Stream?

The Tourism and Hospitality Stream is designed for temporary foreign workers who are currently employed by an eligible Alberta employer in an approved tourism or hospitality occupation. Applicants must have gained qualifying work experience in Alberta and meet all program requirements before applying for provincial nomination.

Unlike Express Entry-aligned streams, this pathway is a base provincial nomination stream, meaning applicants apply directly to AAIP before submitting their Permanent Residence application to IRCC.

Key Benefits

• Direct pathway to Canadian Permanent Residence.
• Employer-supported provincial nomination.
• No Express Entry profile required.
• Opportunity to continue living and working in Alberta.
• Include eligible spouse and dependent children in the PR application.
