The Spain Digital Nomad Visa is primarily designed for professional workers, freelancers and self-employed individuals who can perform their professional activities remotely.
Professional Workers
Employees working remotely for eligible companies located outside Spain may qualify, provided their employment relationship and remote-working arrangement meet the applicable requirements.
Freelancers
Freelancers providing professional services remotely to international clients may qualify, subject to meeting the professional, financial and documentation requirements.
Self-Employed Professionals
Self-employed professionals and business owners whose qualifying professional activities can be performed remotely may also be eligible.Self-employed applicants may work with Spanish companies, subject to the applicable limit. Under the current rules, professional activity for Spanish companies generally cannot exceed 20% of the applicant's total professional activity.
1. Has an Existing Remote Professional Activity
You must have an existing employment or professional relationship that can be performed remotely using computer, telematic or telecommunications systems.
2. Works for Companies Outside Spain
Employees must generally work remotely for companies located outside Spain.Self-employed applicants may have Spanish clients, but work performed for Spanish companies cannot exceed 20% of their total professional activity.
3. Meets the Professional Qualification Requirement
Applicants must generally have either:
● A relevant university/graduate/postgraduate qualification from a recognized institution; or
● At least 3 years of relevant professional experience.
The experience must be relevant to the remote work or professional activity being used for the application.
4. Have an Eligible Professional Relationship
Applicants must be able to demonstrate an established relationship with the foreign company or companies. The Spanish Consulate in India currently requires evidence that the applicant has been working with the foreign company for at least 3 months before applying, together with documentation concerning the employment/professional relationship.
5. Meet the Financial Requirement
The principal applicant must demonstrate financial resources equivalent to at least 200% of Spain's monthly minimum wage (SMI).
Additional financial resources are required for accompanying family members:
First family member: additional 75% of SMI
Each additional family member: additional 25% of SMI
