Express Entry Overview

How Express Entry Works

Express Entry is a points-based immigration system designed to select skilled workers for permanent residence in Canada. Your profile is assessed using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), and top-ranking candidates are invited to apply during regular government draws.

At AAR Overseas, our experts help you build a stronger profile, navigate every stage of the process, and provide personalized support until your application is successfully submitted.

Programs Managed through Express Entry

Canada's Express Entry system manages applications for three major federal economic immigration programs. Each program is designed to meet the needs of different categories of skilled workers based on their education, work experience, and qualifications.

1- Canadian Experience Class

A pathway for individuals who have already gained skilled work experience in Canada.

• Ideal for temporary foreign workers and eligible international graduates.
• Requires qualifying skilled work experience acquired in Canada.
• Faster processing due to applicants' Canadian experience.
• Leads to Canadian Permanent Residence through Express Entry.

2- Federal Skilled Worker Program

For skilled professionals with foreign work experience who wish to become permanent residents of Canada.

• Designed for Professionals with Skilled Work Experience Outside Canada.
• Assessed Based on Education, Work Experience, Language Ability, Age, and Adaptability.
• No Canadian Work Experience Is Required to Qualify.
• Successful Applicants Can Obtain Canadian Permanent Residence (PR).

3- Federal Skilled Trades Program

Created for qualified tradespeople with experience in eligible skilled trade occupations.

• Suitable for Trades Such as Construction, Electrical, Plumbing, Welding, Manufacturing, and Mechanics.
• Requires Relevant Skilled Trade Work Experience.
• May Require a Valid Job Offer or a Certificate of Qualification, Depending on Eligibility.
• Offers a Pathway to Canadian Permanent Residence Through Express Entry.

Steps to Apply through Express Entry

• There are two ways to check if you qualify for an Express Entry program.
• Answer a few questions to see if you meet the minimum requirements.
• Review the detailed requirements for each program.

• If you are eligible and submit your profile, you will be ranked in the Express Entry pool using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).

• The CRS is a points-based system that:
    • Assesses and scores your profile.
    • Ranks it within the Express Entry pool.

• You need a score above the minimum threshold for your round of invitations.

• Use the CRS tool to estimate your score.

• To complete your profile, you will need documents such as language test results to prove your eligibility for Express Entry.

• Some documents take a long time to obtain, so start preparing them early.

• Gather the documents you need.

• Your Express Entry profile is where you provide detailed information about yourself.

• If you are eligible, you will be accepted into the candidate pool and assigned a CRS score.

• Submit your profile through Nextgenvisa.

• The highest-scoring candidates in the pool receive invitations to apply.

• If you are invited, you have 60 days to submit your application.

• Most complete applications with all supporting documents are processed within six months.

• Apply through Express Entry.
